Very nice large well maintained wood dance floor with lots of room to dance. We have not danced to this band. Looking at their website, it does not appear to be ballroom danceable music. Hello, Everyone!
Greetings! We hope everyone had a great holiday season and are ready for the new year. What better way to start the year than to get back to dancing again. We have several things coming up and we would love to see you shake off the winter blues and join us on the dance floor.
WINTER CLASSES
Gresham Students: We will start our winter series this Tuesday, 1/17 with the American Foxtrot. This will be for 6 weeks
followed by the American Waltz starting on 2/28 at our Gresham Events Center on 215th and SE Stark . See attached flyer.
Hillsboro Students: Our 8 week class starts on Monday, Jan 23. Please register as soon as you can. We limit the number to
25 per class to accommodate all returning students as well as new ones. 4 weeks of Foxtrot and 4 weeks of Waltz.

DANCES:
We have our 3rd Saturday of the Month Dance at the Ankeny Dance Studio on SE 9th and Ankeny in Portland. The next one is this Saturday, Jan 21. We provide a variety of music that I have personally collected for this evening of fun dancing. Starts at 7:30 pm with a group lesson, and then general dancing from 8 - 10 pm. $5.00/person cover includes light snacks and punch.
February 10 - Friday Milwaukie Elks Sweetheart's Ball
Romance the night away with you sweetheart with a night of dinner and dancing to live music. Lee Nicholas will be entertaining us with his wide variety of dance music. Cost is $20.00/person. Prime rib, chicken cordon blu, or mahi-mahi fish dinner. $5.00 for those who wish to dance only.

Happy New Years Fellow Dancers ! ! !
Hope you ALL had a wonderful month of December celebrating the Holiday season with family and friends. Ann and I are looking forward getting back onto the dance floor with regularity energized and ready to start 2012 dancing to our favorite bands and music. It has been a very busy month with many holiday events/activities with family and friends. It will be good to get back into our routine and work off some of those extra calories from all of that wonderful food served during the holiday season.
Hope to see you out there dancing with fellow ballroom dancers !

---GSR MUSIC @ GATEWAY ELKS located at 711 NE 100th Ave., Portland. (503) 255-6535; No Cover Charge, Small dance floor ----This is a start of a new chapter in music at Gateway. A new band will be here that weekend, "GSR". GSR has 1,000's of songs to dance to: from Country to Jazz, Rock to Waltz, West to East Coast Swing. There's even Polka, if that's what you like! Gateway is going to try something new. We are going to DJ. This means more options for the members who come to listen and dance. Plus, as an added bonus, we have the ability to open it up to Karaoke. The plan is to focus on dance music until at least 9pm or longer. As the night progresses, we will open the stage up to those who would like to sing. Don't let that stop you from dancing, though! Why this change? We are looking for ways to keep the music going at the Lodge and to save some money. Plus it opens things up to all kinds of music. Music in it's original format. No more saying, "Hey, I love the band but they don't know an walt] music" or "I like country, but I also like 80's, 50's and 60's". Now we can have it all! If that were not enough, there is no special event fees the weekend that you see "GSR" on the calendar. Also, if you have songs that you like to hear and dance to... please make a list: Name of the song, who sings it, and what type of dance music it is. Bring in your list and if we have it we will play it for you, as time allows. Come on down and join the fun.
